There are few dinosaur franchises as well known as ‘Jurassic Park’ (although ‘The Land Before Time’ comes a close second). For most of it, depending on who you ask, ‘Jurassic Park’ has been loved by audiences of all ages for over thirty years despite its mature source material.
I never saw it when it was originally released as I was in nappies at the time so naturally my first viewing of it was on tv as my dad had been watching it at the time a couple of years after its original theatrical release.
I’m sure most of us are familiar with the story by now about a group of scientists (lead by Sam Neil) that are being asked to review a island full of genetically-made dinosaurs.
I’ve enjoyed this film for over thirty years and will continue to do so. The effects still hold up and of course there’s the memorable John Williams score that accompanies the film. The film itself is a huge improvement on the Michael Crichton novel which was a slow-burn sci-fi novel.
Over all, the film is as good and popular today as it was when it first came out in 1993. Which is more than I can say about the other ‘Jurassic Park’ films especially that awful third film.
